| How to design a search engine friendly web page? |
Some basic do's and do nots of good seo webdesign pointed here.
Do's- Use relavant text
- You text to tell what you want to tell
- Use alt text for images
- Use key words that are important for your web page in meta tags
- Use robots.txt correctly
- If you are using dynamic pages such as ASP, use urls and parameters which are short
- Use a site map which links to all important pages of your website
- Split a sitemap into more than 1 page, if you have more than 100 links to be given
- Try to name the page with the key word most prominent for that page
- Make sure that your page is useful to a visitor
- Use correct HTML
Don'ts- Avoid frames
- Avoid telling important issues using images/flash/animation (non text presentation
- Avoid linking to more than 50 other pages from a single page
- Do not use doorway pages
- Do not try decieving search engines like by having text in same color as background
- Do not involve in link exchanges
- Do not use automated programs like rank checking tools, auto submit programs etc
- Do not make the page lengthy just to fill in keywords
- Do not unessesarily repeat keywords just for search engine's sake
- Do not use redirects to mislead search engines
- Do not say the same content in multiple pages, just for the sake of search engines
THe final say Design a web page for a visitor and not for search engines. If your site is useful to the visitors, it is the duty of the search engines to present it to the visitor. |
